The BC Supreme Court has set aside an injunction preventing the university from capturing rabbits on its campus. As a result, UVic will begin to humanely trap rabbits and provide them to sanctuaries with Ministry of Environment permits and commitment from veterinarians to sterilize the rabbits.

UVic's Student Transition Services staff (l-r) Sue Corner, Dustin Meredith, April McNeil and Melana Mar are ready to roll out the welcome mat for more than 1,900 new undergraduate and graduate students who are arriving this fall, plus more than 600 parents. New Student Orientation on Sept. 7 will feature faculty and campus tours, and an opening convocation ceremony where students will officially become Vikes. The day ends with the President's Welcome Barbeque and Information Carnival, starting at 4:15 at the fountain - all new students are welcome.
